What I’ve worked on recently

Three Checks
A cheeky name for my independent consulting biz. Mostly playing the hits: rebrands, go to market positioning, designing new products. References and project list readily available.

Mosaic
As Chief Product & Design Officer at Mosaic, I defined the strategy and vision for IAC’s $160M+ ARR consumer app business, leading a team of 75 across design, product, research, writing, and brand creative. After driving a significant turnaround during my 2-year tenure, Mosaic was acquired in January 2024

Better
Pre-IPO, I built and scaled Better’s first design strategy team. Our group was responsible for developing customer insights, building digital products, and driving innovation initiatives during a period of sustained growth and expansion.

PGA TOUR

I led global research and product strategy for the PGA TOUR’s digital platform (app, web, live). The new products are designed to support the behaviors and preferences of modern fans while also reshaping the PGA’s digital business model for the future. Check out the new app here.

Google
Embedded with Google’s team, I helped rearchitect and redesign the Google Store. We turned an ever-expanding hardware catalog into an intuitive experience that helps shoppers discover, learn about, and (most importantly) buy Google’s products.

What I’m good at

Leadership
  • Bringing energy to work that’s built around optimism and pragmatism
  • Building, leading, and retaining high-performing teams
  • Trusting and empowering those teams to do the work better than I can

Strategy
  • Defining the customer needs and business problems that need solving
  • Understanding the context in which products need to succeed
  • Calculating tradeoffs and opportunity cost to determine priority

Communication
  • Delivering work through clear, opinionated communication
  • Inviting others into the process to build trust and accountability
  • Building a shared rubric for evaluating success and adjusting the plan

Side missions

The Surfer’s Journal
It’s hard to believe that my first lunch with Steve & Debbee Pezman, Jeff Divine, and Scott Hulet was more than 10 years ago (!). Since my full-time days ended, I’ve been lucky enough to play a small part in the ongoing evolution of the best print magazine in the world.

UKMC / OHSU
As part of her surgical practice, my partner, Dr. Natalie Krane, leads a nationally-recognized program that aims to measure the efficacy of minfulness meditation as a form of pain management after surgery (reducing dependency on opiods in the process). I’ve supported the effort by designing and building a digital experience that delivers Headspace-like meditation routines for patients to access after their surgical procedures.

Belong and Gather
Working with friends is always fun. Working with friends to help create new brands that provide healthcare to historically under-served populations? Sign me up every time. Over the course of late nights, early mornings, and lots of direct conversations with their patient population, I helped bring Belong and Gather to life with Matt, Andy, and Erin.

What else?

I volunteer at the Portland Library Friends Store. Stop by, say hello, buy a book. It’ll be the best $2 you spend all month.
